![]() ![]() But despite all that, this stage is actually interesting, finding the Grox and discovering the secrets of the core of the galaxy is fun but they leave a lot of questions unanswered. It gets really annoying though when you get called by your empire or ANOTHER empire to fight of their intruders or pirates, I mean don't they have their own defenses? And why can't I form my own elite force and space ships, I don't mean getting five space ships from other empires that die out in seconds, I mean my own empires forces that join my side and help destroy the Grox instead of leaving me to do it alone. Space Stage: The strongest stage with the most going for it, diplomacy here makes much more sense and there are actually resources and things to collect, though, unless you have Galactic Adventures, the missions are all done from your spaceship which makes you kind of miss you're creature. And for crying out loud, near the end of the stage, one of the special abilities you receive is basically a 'Press here to win a 10 min long stage in 5 mins', tell me that's not just plain stupid, I mean it may be fun to see 30 cities getting nuked at once but not when you realize you just finished the stage in that little time. The Civilization stage is almost the exact case except diplomacy here is even simpler, I mean winning as an economic Civilization is so easy and uneventful it makes you absolutely hate going for that archetype. There are no resources, different types of units, locations to settle, it's like a strategy game for kids because the strategy is set for you and it's very easy, for people like me who play a lot of Civilization, Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, this can be painful to play. Tribal and Civilization Stage: This is where the game switches to an real-time strategy formation, with sadly, little strategy, all you need in the tribal stage is to max out your warriors which is very simple, give them a few weapons and easily attack your enemies and destroy them with ease or become their allies that comes with very little benefits too. ![]() It's a fun stage, but like I said before, it can get old quick. It's just you moving from nest to nest and migrating to a new nest every now and then, but of course evolving your creature here is much more exciting because of how large the editor is here. Animals don't form herds, they don't hunt other animals, they just stick to their nests except for the occasional rouges or hostile animals that have no nest. Here, it's just a matter of who you feel like killing to eat, or if you're a herbivore for no reason, or if you want to sing and dance in front of other animals to 'socialize' with them and become their allies. All you do here is drag a poor representation of what a cell is towards food pieces or other cells if you're a carnivore/omnivore, this is fun for a few minutes until you realize the stage is only 20 mins of just that, nothing more, sure you evolve and get new parts, but the parts are so minimal and do not add to gameplay, it's just more dragging.Ĭreature Stage:Easily everyone's favorite stage, and the second strongest after the Space Stage, the creature stage is fun but you slowly begin to see all the potential it had that the developers didn't take advantage of. This stage feels like an app for the android or ios, not a major stage for a full-length game. For those who want to know what's wrong with the stages in my opinion, here it is:Ĭell Stage: The first stage, and probably my least favorite because it defines repetition. The game could have done so much more with its stages but because of our good friend EA they were extremely dumbed down to appeal to all audiences, mainly younger ones (This became even more evident after they released Spore Hero and Hero Arena for the Wii and DS) which left older gamers spending most of their time in the creators. This game definitely brings back memories, though it sadly didn't turn out to be the game many had hoped back in 2005, it's strongest aspect was the creators (Mainly the creature and adventure creators) while gameplay of each stage was, I have to say, rather tedious and got quite boring quick, I played through the stages once, having had a lot of fun, I decided to try it again thinking it would have something new but it sadly turned out to be the same routine every time.
